Project management described in terms of their component processes. Process Groups: Initiating, Planning, Executing, Controlling and Closing.

Project management is concerned with the overall planning and co-ordination of a project from inception to completion aimed at meeting the client's requirements and ensuring completion on time, within cost and to required quality standards. Project management is typically carried out either by a private consultant or an employee of the project.

Project managers use different tools such as PERT and Gantt charts for scheduling all the tasks that need to be completed. They are conscious of managing time, scope and resources for a project. To reduce time to complete a project the manager might decide to employ more workers which would increase costs.

JOB PROFILE OF PROJECT MANAGER
The most important work of project manager is to manage the construction and closeout on assigned projects with the goal of customer satisfaction and budget attainment. Negotiates, writes, and signs subcontracts and maintains effective subcontractor relations. Develops, coordinates, and manages project planning and scheduling. Negotiates contract changes with clients. He set-up and maintenance of those aspects of construction project management which include the planning, directing pre-award meetings, purchasing, writing contracts, scheduling and budgeting necessary prior to the start of the project. Managing the planning and scheduling functions which provide for the development of an overall project schedule, the establishment of project milestone dates, and the development of project standards.

Project manager must give proper closing to the project because it is the last and most important step.

Qualifications:
BS degree in Construction Management or Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or Construction. Must be a strong problem solver, leader, communicator, and team player.
